Were You There?
This is an orchestral variation of one of my favorite African-American Spirituals "Were You There." This was completed as a project for an orchestration class I took part in.
O Magnum Mysterium
O Magnum Mysterium is my first choral work. Latin is such a beautifully pure language making it amazing for choral singing. I edited the original Latin text, so that the text focuses on the mystery of the incarnation of Jesus Christ.
Lyrics:
O Magnum Mysterium..........O Great Mystery
et admirabile sacramentum..........and wonderful sacramet
ut animalia viderent Dominum natum..........that animals should see the newborn Lord
Alleluia
Looking Inward, Looking Outward
A piece about introspection and writing for weird ensembles.
Ice & Warmth
This piece was written about the wonder of an icy landscape and the wonder of a warm season.
A Quiet Hope
In my personal experience, I have found hope to be something much quieter than the circumstances that surround me. It is always there small and comforting like a candle. In this piece, I tried to describe a quiet hope amongst a loud life. (aka college which I was in when I wrote this piece.)
Mountains
Mountains is the very first piece I wrote for more than one instrument. Being a cellist, I went with a string quartet. I came up with the theme during summer break between my Sophomore and Junior years of college. I tried to create something that communicates how I feel when I am backpacking in the mountains.
